Catherine L. Johnson is a visual artist whose art touches the archetypes of the human psyche through imagery and poetic text.  Her work simultaneously honors the sacredness of being human and that of the natural world. Her creations are spontaneous, and automatic, but her techniques belie a keen understanding of how perception works. Her content plumbs the mind to find hope, ancient patterns, phrases, memory; while her techniques leave us feeling real movement, fluttering light, and color fields -scattered with the minds' buried treasure.

Johnson graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from Rutgers University. She is the recipient of the P.S.1 International Studio Residency Fellowship, and the Bush Artist Fellowship. She was nominated 3 times for the Joan Mitchell Artist Fellowship. Her art is in prominent corporate and private collections nationwide.
