God's Sketchbook for Creation [11.09.2013 - 01.11.2014]

Our new exhibition, God's Sketchbook for Creation, opens Saturday November 9th from 6:00 to 8:00pm, and runs through January 11, 2014. This show features the art of Aniela Sobieski, Nancy Robinson, Al, Wadzinski, Rob McBroom, David Aschenbrener, Siri Vorvick, DC Ice, Tyler Green, and Sarina Brewer.

Have you ever wondered what creatures were dreamt up but didn’t make the final cut for this world?

This exhibition is a revelation of the sketches, demo versions, and rough-cut designs for earth’s animals that were edited out before creation.  This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get behind the scenes of creation and observe the working models, preliminary designs, a few outright failures, and some critters that simply did not ‘play well with others’. The sketchbook contains renditions of creatures that exist today, and perhaps more interestingly, the fantastical ones that might have been.

We are inviting the audience to participate in this experience by:

Contributing a votive to the show: in homage and a humble prayer to the creative forces in the universe for new species (to replace some that we humans have accidentally bumped-off).  We will present a collection of contributed votives, strange-creature figurines of clay or any material or assemblage.  Bring it with you to the opening! NOTE: Votives must be smaller than 8”x8”x8” to be in the show.

Gallery Hours: Wed-Fri 12-6pm, Sat 11-5pm
